Exploring Columbus: Chinese Lantern Festival

Hello ladies and gentlemen, I am back once again with my Exploring Columbus series and this showcase is of the Chinese Lantern Festival that was going on back in January. It took place at the Ohio Fair Grounds and was a showcase of Chinese culture and history. From the food to the clothing to the giant lights, it allowed me to get a glimpse into the past and see a piece of culture I traditionally don’t get to experience. I grew up loving history, and had a particularly affinity for Chinese culture and traditions. So enjoy the images I was able to capture and let me know what you think!

Exploring Columbus: Zoo Lights

Hi everyone, and welcome to 2019. It is still January, so we are finally getting some snow and still hanging on to our New Year’s Resolution, albeit barely. This year, I decided to bring back my Exploring Columbus series, and I will be starting it out with the Zoo Lights. So for those of you who aren’t familiar, Columbus, Ohio has one of the best zoos in the country, and subsequently, one of the best zoo lights shows. I really wanted to focus on the brightness of the lights, contrasted with the darkness surrounding it with the reflections all around, and I think i captured that quite well. Let me know what you think, and as always, reach out and lets go shooting!

Back at It

Well hey everyone, glad to see you all again. It has been a while since I have utilized my blog and I am gonna give this a 2nd go. These photos are trying something new, that being smoke bombs. My good friend Eli suggested it, so we went for it with some help from a few friends, and I am pleased with the results. If anyone wants to do a shoot, let me know, and we’ll figure out a great time and even greater images!

Exploring Columbus: Jeffery Mansion

It has been a while since I have been on the blog. Its been an interesting time, but I'm trying to get more consistent with it. I still have been shooting, so here is a series that I did at Jeffery Mansion, as I continue to explore my home city and learn all about it.

If anyone would like to set up an appointment or collaboration, let me know! I would love to be able to chat with you about it!

Portrait Life: Rachel

The last few months have been crazy busy and had their ups and downs, but now it is time to get back to shooting!! I recently reconnected with my good friend Rachel and we went out shooting! It was quite the cold day and she was a bit apprehensive at first, but she really broke outta her shell and we got some great shots. So enjoy!!!

Portrait Life: Chris and Kat

A few weeks ago, I had the wonderful pleasure of taking pictures of two old friends from Nike. It had been a while since I had seen either of them, but they reached out to me, and I ended up taking their engagement pictures. So we met up one Saturday evening, and we were able to create masterpieces. So Enjoy!

And if you ever would like to go shooting or schedule a session, please reach out!!

Portrait Life

So lately, although I haven's posted a blog post in a while, I have really taken an interest in portraiture.  I used to hate it because I didn't think that I did a good job, but as I have practiced, I have come to enjoy them. So this collection is my 2 good friends Taron and Tori. Taron was my former RA in college and is now one of my closest friends. And Tori is his wonderful girlfriend who I have had the pleasure of being good friends with as well since freshman year in college. So enjoy!! And if you are interested in having your pictures taken, let me know!!!

Exploring Columbus: Cincy Edition

About a month ago, I went back to Cincinnati to meet up with a good friend for coffee. Plans fell through so I figured I might as well and go take some pictures. So I went down to the river at Newport and took a few shots. Having gone to college down in Cincinnati, it was great to be back in my second home walking around and taking pictures! Hope you enjoy!!

Exploring Columbus: Dawes Arboretum

In this segment of Exploring Columbus, I went and explored Dawes Arboretum. And yes, while it technically may not be in Columbus, it is close enough and too gorgeous not to count. While I didn't get the chance to explore the whole thing, I did walk around the Japanese Zen Garden there along with just some of the ponds and open expanses. So enjoy!!

Family Portraits

While I very much enjoy taking landscapes and pictures of nature, I also very much enjoy taking portraits of people. I love being able to get to know them, and really express their personality through the pictures.

So a few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to take the family portraits of my friend Jacob. It was a super great time, getting to meet the rest of his family, hang out, and have a good time. Here are a few of the snapshots from the day. Enjoy!

Exploring Columbus: Darby Creek

So I have made it a desire to start really exploring the city that I live in. While I have lived here my whole life, I think its high time I dig into it and see what I can find. Whether that be parks, the city, or simply around the corner.

I have decided to begin my adventure at the park that I grew up nearby. Darby Creek is a park I have been to countless times, so I might as well start there.

    Enjoy the photos!

Glen Echo

It's always nice to be able to explore a new place. It is even better to finally get a chance to go through the pictures that you took at that new place. I moved into my new apartment about a month ago, and I now finally have the time to go back through old pictures.

So these pictures are from Glen Echo park. I had never heard of it but after a recommendation from a friend, I had to check it out. So enjoy some of the pictures of my adventure!

Exploring the North

One of the most popular areas in Columbus is the Short North. You can really explore the shops and small boutiques, finding stuff that you didn't know you needed. You can stop off and enjoy some food or drinks at one of the many eateries, pubs, or bars as well. I was driving through and couldnt help but stop off and take some quick pictures. So enjoy!

Love is in the Air

Tis the time for wedding bells. I always find it funny how easy it is to laugh in the presence of those you love. And that is evident with Josh and Sarah. A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to take some pictures of two of my childhood friends for a pre-wedding shoot. I always love hanging out with them and getting to photograph the experience. So below are a few shots from the evening. Enjoy! (Oh, and special thanks to Lisa for the extra assistance)

Praire Oaks Park

Right Priorities are necessary for Right Perspectives

Often times we get caught up in what we are doing, and not why we are doing it. So it is crucial to be able to take a step back and see things in a different light. Push yourself to not stay in the pit, but rather, to pull yourself out.

These pictures are from Praire Oak Park, in Columbus, Oh. I went around sunset and was able to capture some beautiful shots. Enjoy and if you want to do a shoot of any type or variety, reach out and let me know!

Kiwanis Riverway Park

So they say, that sometimes you have to get lost to truly find yourself. So that is why I like to go adventuring. Because maybe I'll stumble upon something fantastic and beautiful out in nature, and in the process, might just find the same thing in myself.

That being said, I went walking around Kiwanis Riverway Park in Dublin, OH to see what I could find. I want to start creating, both with people and with the nature that is already there. So these are a few glimpses into what I found. Hope you all enjoy.

Coffman Park

So one of my favorite things about photography is that it allows you to express and create. There is no limit to what you can do, except the limit you put on yourself. You can take what is around you and capture it in a way that not only makes you happy but can show off the beauty that is around you. While everyone has different taste and flavor, there  is still more than enough room for everyone to create what they want.

That being said, I strolled around Coffman Park, and walked away with some shots. Enjoy

Goodale Park with Sara

A few weeks ago, a friend of mine Sara let me take some pictures of her at the park. Goodale is one of my favorite parks to go to and take pictures at. And she was gracious to stand (and sit) in front of the camera and let me take some shots.

Promed Out

So a week or so ago, my little ( yet much taller) cousin reached out to me and asked if I could take a few shots of him and his date as it was Prom night. I was thrilled, as I fondly recall going to prom and loved to capture it for him to look back on. He is a goofy and goodhearted kid, and his date was the same way. So here is a glimpse into what he and his dated looked like.
